Collection Name |
Perine Family Papers |
Date |
November 4, 1709 |
Description |
This land deed, dated November 4, 1709, indicates that land was conveyed from Martha (Billiou) Stillwell, the wife of Captain Thomas Stillwell, to her daughters Anne Van Pelt and Rachel Britton. Martha had inherited this land from her husband. She reserved "the room over the cellar of the little house which stands before the Great house" for her living quarters. This document is directly associated with the Billiou-Stillwell-Perine house and its property. After the death of Captain Thomas Stillwell, Martha married the Reverend David de Bonrepos and moved with him to New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York. She died in 1735.
