Ownership and History |
This hat was worn by Margaret Robinson (1924-2010), a lifelong resident of Staten Island. Ms. Robinson graduated from New Dorp High School, Hunter College (in 1945), and earned a master's degree in 1953 from New York University. She worked for AT&T and volunteered for numerous organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Staten Island Historical Society (Historic Richmond Town). She was honored as a Staten Island Advance Woman of Achievement in 1972. Ms. Robinson later recalled that she disliked wearing hats and was delighted when they went out of fashion. |
