Fireman's badge from Cromwell Hose Company of Dongan Hills, Staten Island. The badge is silver-colored metal in the shape of a Maltese cross. The circular central medallion has a raised image of a hose wagon. Inscription above and below: "CROMWELL / HOSE." The reverse side of the badge has a hook and a threaded post. This badge belonged to John W. Else (1877-1957) of Dongan Hills. Cromwell Hose Company was organized in 1906, and was replaced by New York City's municipal fire department in 1912. |
