Admission ticket, printed in dark blue ink on light blue card stock. Rectangular with rounded corners. Illustration of a woman in masquerade costume at left. Printed inscription: "Monster Masquerade Ball of the / Calumet Boys / AT STAPLETON CLUB ROOMS / Friday, March 12, 1920 / DOUBLE ORCHESTRA / Continuous Music by Reilly's Famous Orchestra / TICKETS - (including tax) - $1. PER PERSON / $50. in Gold as Prizes / $5. in gold to the person who discovers the / original Calumet boy." At lower right is the logo of the Allied Printing Trades Council of New York City. The reverse side of the ticket has a printed calendar for 1920. Printed at the bottom edge below the calendar: "Burke Bros., Printers, Madison and Grand Sts., New York City." This event was reported at length in the Staten Island Advance on March 13, 1920: "The first annual masquerade ball of the Calumet Boys took place last evening at the Stapleton Club Rooms. The hall was filled with the members and friends from all sections of the Island... The hall was tastefully decorated and the electric lights were draped in red, white and blue. The costumes worn by the merry gathering were comical and artistic, and several new ones that have never been witnessed here before were introduced..." |
