Description |
Printed program for a ball held in 1907. Front cover is light blue paper with a dark blue printed illustration of couples dancing, and printed inscription: "ORDER / OF / DANCE." First page is printed: "FIRST GRAND ANNUAL BALL / OF THE SOCIETY / GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI / OF STATEN ISLAND / WHICH WILL BE HELD / AT BACHMAN'S PAVILION, ROSEBANK, / STATEN ISLAND / On Tuesday, March 19th, 1907 / Music by Prof. L. LAROY /...." The next two pages list the program, and the last page lists committee members. The back cover is printed "Press of / Bollettino della Sera / 178 Park Row." This dance program belonged to George Sebastian Hartmann (1884-1958) and his wife Louise (Beinert) Hartmann (1890-1982), who lived in Rosebank, Staten Island for most of their married life. George worked on the Staten Island Rapid Transit railroad for over 50 years, beginning in 1902, and became an engineer in 1907. |
