Description |
Silver pocket watch, circular, white face with roman numerals and inscription " HAMPDEN WATCH CO." Watch face has 2 hands plus a smaller inset circular face with one hand. Watch case has finial at top with loop with watch key attached on a piece of string. Reverse has incised initials "W.L.C." for Willett Leslie Conner. (Keywords: HRT) |

Ownership and History |
This watch belonged to Willett Leslie Conner (1877-1932). Willett and his wife, Bertha (Manee) Conner, lived in the structure now known as the Stephens-Black House at Historic Richmond Town. They were parents of 16 children. Willett Leslie Conner served as Postmaster of Richmond as well as working in real estate and other business ventures, with offices in the building now known as the Treasure House at Historic Richmond Town. The Hampden Watch Company was in business from 1877 to 1927. They were originally located in Springfield, MA, and then moved to Canton, OH. |
