Description |
Original glass plate negative. Interior view of a bedroom in Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. There is a cast iron heating stove in front of a fireplace. Furnishings include a Windsor rocking chair, a chest of drawers with a mirror, floor rugs, and decorative objects. A large folding fan covers the fireplace opening. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "A.D.6 / plate / 702 / Fireplace & stove, our room / Fair day / 1 1/2 mins & 3 secs for window / 10 am / 25 ft / Sat.
