Ownership and History |
Augustine Minshall Hopper, who was 18 years old when this photo was taken, was vacationing with his family at the Glen Springs Sanitarium. He wrote a letter to Alice Austen on August 11, 1892, after Alice had departed the Sanitarium but Augustine was still there. He noted his disappointment with photographs he had taken on his visit: "I got the message you sent me in Miss Eccleston's letter and have only waited to answer it until I could have the prints...this morning I got them and am sorry to say with one exception they are poor, very foggy & gray, but still very funny..." |
