Ownership and History |
William Greene Ward, a noted Civil War general, lived with his wife and children in a mansion in the Grymes Hill neighborhood of Staten Island. After the deaths of his daughters Maria and Caroline in the early 1940s, the contents of the family's estate were sold at a three-day auction that was attended by more than 2,000 people. |
