Description |
Original B&W print on beige cardboard mount. Group portrait of 35 men and one boy seated and standing outdoors; nine bowling pins and five bowling balls are on the ground in front of the group. Fifteen men are seated in roughly three rows; one man reclines in front of the group at left; nineteen men and one boy stand to left, right, and rear of the seated group. Five men standing at right are holding musical instruments. The man reclining at left holds a cord or wire that leads to the left of the picture; he is identified on a separate sheet of paper found with this photo as the photographer George Bear; the third man from the right seated in the first row is identified as Charles Beinert on the same sheet. Inscription at top: "AUSFLUG DES STAPLETON KEGEL CLUBS / AUGUST 17 FOUR CORNERS 1893." A sheet of paper is glued and folded at the top of the mount, with a hand-drawn key to identify individuals; no names are written in. (Keywords: New York) |
