Description |
Original glass plate negative. View of the yacht "Wabun" in a lock in the Delaware and Raritan Canal in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A man stands on the bow of the yacht, using a pole to guide it. On the path at right, a man holds a rope, and two women stand next to him. A horse is tied to a post at right. On the left side of the canal is a small wooden building, with larger buildings on a rise in the background. The photographer's initials are inscribed in the lower right corner of the negative: "E.A.A." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Stanley / 35 / No. 439 / Wabun in first lock / New Brunswick / Cloudy / W.L. 9:15 am / 60 ft Inst slowest / Tuesday Oct 18th 1892 / Canal Trip." |
