Original glass plate negative. View of a swan boat on the pond in Central Park, Manhattan. Julia Bredt (seen in profile) is seated on a bench in the front of the boat; John Haggerty Austen is seated on a bench behind her. Julia is wearing a fur stole around her shoulders; John Haggerty Austen wears a coat and hat, and holds a cane. The younger man seated in the rear of the boat is presumably the pilot. An American flag flies from the rear of the boat. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "A&R / 40 / 209 / Swan boat, Julia & Grandpa / Fine day, clear, wind / W.L. / 25 ft / 1.20 P.M / Friday Oct. 16th 1891 / Central Park".
