Description |
Original glass plate negative. Julia Martin is seen in profile seated in a horse-drawn Whitechapel Cart; she holds the reins in her hands. A young boy, identified in the inscription as Richard Wachmore, is seated next to her. A man wearing a top hat and a long double-breasted coat (probably a coachman) stands to the left holding the horse's bridle. In the background is the arched entryway to the Martin family home. The woman standing in the doorway may be Julia Martin's stepmother, Sarah (Schuyler) Martin. (Keywords: New York) |
