Description |
Original B&W print on cream cardboard mount. Interior view of a workshop or machine room at the C.W. Hunt Company factory in West New Brighton, Staten Island. Six men and one boy are in the room. In the foreground is a large table on trestles or sawhorses; the table is covered with tools, machine parts, and other objects. At right, a man and a boy stand between a table and a workbench; the man holds a ratchet wheel. Five more men stand in the background. A motor at right is connected by a belt to a drive shaft above, which runs what appears to be a two-bladed ceiling fan; a lamp with four light bulbs hangs near the fan. Several chain hoists or similar objects hang at right; several large wheels hang near the windows in the far wall, or lean on items around the room. (Keywords: New York) |
