Description |
Original glass plate negative. A woman stands in front of the door of a house; she holds a young child in her left arm. She wears a polka dot blouse, a striped skirt, and a checked apron, and she holds a hat in her left hand. The child is wearing a cape over a dress. A metal pail and a stoneware crock are on the ground near her feet. The exterior of the house is partially covered with vines. The door is ajar, and a ladder and a wooden barrel are partially visible inside. Location is likely Staten Island, as the photographer took several other photos on Staten Island on that same date. The same woman and child are seen in negative 50.015.6017. (Keywords: New York, Black History) |
