Description |
Original glass plate negative. View of two handcarts that are piled high with large fabric bags. Two men are near one of the carts; one man is seated on the curb, and the other man stands leaning against the cart. The wall behind the men is covered with posters, three of which advertise the play "Lost Strayed or Stolen." The location is 23rd Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan. Inscription in the lower left corner of the negative: "COPYRIGHT 1896 / E.A. AUSTEN." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "No. / 2 negs / Cramer / C / Rag pickers & loaded carts / 23d & 3d Ave / Fair to cloudy / W.L. / 11 am / 55 ft / Inst fast / Friday Oct 30th 1896 / N.Y." A second original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Copyright 1896." (Keywords: New York City) |
