Original glass plate negative. View of the passenger steamship (ocean liner) La Bretagne in New York Bay, as seen from Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. In the foreground is the path from the house to the waterfront. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Seed / 23 / 547 / from roof / French steamer La Bretagne / Fair day no sun / P.L. / 1.50 P.M / 2 secs / Stop 22 / Sunday May 28th 1893." |
