Description |
Original B&W glass lantern slide. Oswald Muller stands outdoors holding a small tabby cat. He has a beard and is wearing a hat and a checked three-piece suit. He appears to be standing on the grounds of the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. The image is seen through a circular opening in a dark paper mask that covers the lantern slide's edges; there is a clear sheet of protective glass over the image. Two paper labels with handwritten inscriptions are adhered to the glass: an oval label with red border, "N.B.C. / AUSTEN / 29," and a rectangular strip of paper, "89. My brother-in-law and / his cat." (Keywords: New York) |
