Color slide. Side view of a damaged FDNY fire truck. Photograph was taken at the World Trade Center Recovery Operation at the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island. The fire truck was used by Ladder Co. 132 of Brooklyn (vehicle number SL 9403), and it was damaged at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The Staten Island Historical Society has the passenger side door from this truck in the museum collection (02.021.0061). This photo shows the truck after the door was removed on May 23, 2002. This is one of a series of 289 photos taken by photographer V. Amesse at the request of Staten Island Historical Society. The series documents work in progress at the World Trade Center Recovery Operation at the Fresh Kills Landfill in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in New York City. All of the photographs were taken on May 23, 2002. |
