Original glass plate negative. Side view of the quarantine boat Charles F. Allen, with four men aboard. A sign with the name "CHARLES F. ALLEN" is visible on the pilothouse, and "CHAS. F. The Charles F. Allen was one of three boats used by the Quarantine station in Rosebank, Staten Island. It was generally described in contemporary newspapers as a "boarding tug" that was used to transfer patients to the Quarantine islands, and to bring Quarantine staff to inspect arriving ships. |
