Original glass plate negative. Alfred Munroe and Nellie (Munroe) Austen are seated in a rowboat on the Assabet River in Concord, Massachusetts. Mr. Munroe holds a parasol over his head. In the background is a wooded landscape. The photographer's initials are inscribed in the lower left corner of the negative: "E.A.A." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Seed 26 / 493 / Across Assabet river, rocks / Nellie & Mr Munroe / in boat large / Fine, clear, day shady / P.L. Stop 32 / 3 secs 950 am / Monday June 13th 1892 / Concord Mass." |
