Original B&W print on cream cardboard mount. Interior view of a brick building at the C.W. Hunt Company factory in West New Brighton, Staten Island. The room contains equipment and machinery, possibly a furnace, with two men standing at left. At far left is a vertical series of buckets mounted on a linkage that carries them through a hole in the floor and out of view above; at right is a chute leading to a machine in front of a brick enclosure with two metal doors above. At far right, another piece of equipment with half open doors is partly visible. There are two sets of tracks or rails in the floor. (Keywords: New York) |

Ownership and History |
Founded in 1872, the C.W. Hunt Company became one of Staten Island's largest and most famous industrial establishments. The company manufactured many types of industrial equipment, including coal-handling machinery, steam shovels, and hoisting engines. |
