Original glass plate negative. View of parade grounds and buildings at Fort Frontenac in Kingston, Canada. Soldiers in uniform stand alongside two wheeled carts, one with a cannon and one with a limber box. One of the soldiers holds a ramrod. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription, which also refers to negative 50.015.6056: "Cramer / Crown / No 980 & 981 / Postman at Alwington gate / W.L. 10 ft / 11 am / Fine day, in shade / Tuesday Sept 1st 1896 / 981 9 lb R.M.S. field gun in action / Friday Sept 4th 2.50 P.M / Kingston / Canada." |
