This is one of a series of 289 photos taken by photographer V. Amesse at the request of Staten Island Historical Society. The series documents work in progress at the World Trade Center Recovery Operation at the Fresh Kills Landfill in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in New York City. All of the photographs were taken on May 23, 2002. |
