Ownership and History |
Adeline Haxton's property is shown in the 1898 Richmond County atlas as 3 acres located in Arrochar, just south of Fort Wadsworth. Her property bordered on the Lower Bay of New York Harbor. Her husband William, who passed away in 1896, was an insurance executive. They may have been related to Alice Austen; a carte-de-visite photo of Adeline in the SIHS Austen archival collection identifies her as "Aunt Addie" (with the last name spelled as Haxtum). |
