Original glass plate negative. View of a large arched entrance to a building at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois; in front of the entrance is a statue of Christopher Columbus holding a flag in his left hand and raising a sword with his right hand. The photographer's initials are inscribed in the lower right corner of the negative: "COPYRIGHT 1893 E.A.A." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Stanley / 35 / 579 / Statue of Columbus with flag / in front of Administration / Fine clear day / W.L. 11.35 am / 60 ft Inst / Monday July 10th / 1893 / Worlds Fair / (3)." |
