Original glass plate negative. Alice Austen and Augustine Minshall Hopper sit on a bench at the Glen Springs Sanitarium in Watkins, New York. Alice holds a glass while Augustine uses a corkscrew to open a bottle. On the bench between them is an oval metal tray with a bottle, plates, and food. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Cramer / crown / 381 / A lunch at the San / Mr Hopper pulling cork / Fine day, in shade / W.L. 12 ft 4.30 P.M / Inst slow / Monday Aug 1st 1892 / Watkins NY."
