Description |
Original glass plate negative. Interior view of the parlor at Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. Furnishings include an upright piano, two upholstered chairs, a bookcase, and a table with books and a lamp. On the wall above the piano is an oval mirror with an ornate frame. On the piano is sheet music titled "Barbier de Seville." A banjo is laying flat on the top of the piano. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Seed / No. 181 / Parlor & piano / Sun only out at the end / 10.25 a.m. Stop 5. / Dalh lense 8 1/2 mins / Mon.
