Original B&W print on cream cardboard mount. View of Jefferson Boulevard looking east toward Annadale Road, in Annadale, Staten Island. Construction is in progress in the middle ground; men can be seen working at left and right. Three buildings are visible on Annadale Road. The building at right has a sign above the windows: "FOOD / MARKET / THE / GREAT / ATLANTIC & PACIFIC / TEA / CO / FOUNDED / 1859." The building at left has an inscription on the awning: "BAKERY & DELICATESSEN." Inscriptions at lower left and right (the inscriptions appear to have been handwritten on the negative): "942" and "8-27-40." An inscription on the reverse identifies the view as new curbs and paving base at Annadale Road and Jefferson Boulevard north of the railroad tracks, looking east; photo by Victor S. Bent.
