Original B&W postcard. View of the beach with a group of men and women in bathing costumes standing in a row with their arms around each other. Behind them is the boardwalk with a swing ride; the large building in the background is the Midland Beach Casino. Numerous people are on the boardwalk. Printed caption at top: " ' Jolly Bathers ' , Midland Beach, Staten Island, N.Y." Printed along right edge: "11968". Printed on reverse: "Post Card / ... / Schaffer & Rice - Publishers. Souvenir Post Card Co. New York. / Printed in Germany." There is a postmark for New Dorp, August 17, 1908. The card is hand-addressed to "Mr. T.W. Allen / 644 Newark Ave., / Jersey City, / N.J.".
