Peter T. Austen, photographer Alice Austen's uncle, lived in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he was a professor of chemistry at Rutgers College. This photo features Peter's wife Nellie (left) and their children William Munroe (left), Elizabeth Patty (center), and Oswald (right). The woman at right was their governess, Miss Butler. The photograph was taken in New Brunswick, most likely at the family's home. |
