Original glass plate negative. Peter and Nellie (Munroe) Austen and their children William Munroe, Elizabeth Patty (nickname Lysbet), and Oswald stand on a wooden sidewalk in front of a two-story house in Bay Head, New Jersey. Each person stands next to a bicycle. Oswald (at left) holds a kitten in his arms. Beach sand is visible in the foreground. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Cramer / 50 crown / 844 / House, Austen family & wheels / Fine day, sun / W.L. 60 ft / Inst fast / 2 P.M. / Monday August 26 1895 / Bay Head." |
