Original B&W film negative. Gertrude Tate and Guy Loomis (with their backs to the camera) walk around the ruins of stone walls and buildings at Fort Ticonderoga, New York. A lake and mountains are visible in the distance. Handwritten inscription around the perimeter of the negative, possibly added by a previous cataloger: "TICONDEROGA TRIP / AUGUST 1913 / #4A20." The corresponding Premo Film Pack paper tab has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Ticonderoga / Ethan Allen crossing to right / Old Wall / G.L. / G.A.T. / Fine / hot -- / August 27th-- / 1913 / 12 / 3 / 2 / D / 2 pm." Ownership and History |
Fort Ticonderoga is located in upstate New York near Lake Champlain. Built in the 1750s, it was used during colonial conflicts between France and Great Britain, and also played a role in the American Revolution. Today it is preserved as a historic site. |
