Original B&W film negative. A group of men and one woman stand on the sidewalk in front of the Paramount Grill, located at 219 Canal Street in Stapleton, Staten Island. The woman and several of the men wear signs that the Paramount bartenders are on strike. Next door to the Paramount Grill is Royal Upholstering Co., and a sign for Brewers Tavern is down the street. The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Bartenders / Local 15 / 9/10/54." (Keywords: New York City, Twentieth Century) |
