Original B&W film negative. Men and women walk on the sidewalk of Twenty-third Street in Manhattan. A streetcar and horse-drawn carriages are on the street. Businesses visible include Waterbury Dental Parlors and Eden Musee. The negative was found with the photographer's original Premo Film Pack paper tab, with her handwritten inscription: "23rd St N.Y. / Fine - 2 P.M June 4 / 1906 / Sun out / Slot 3/4 Stop 4 - Sp 3 1/2." The Eden Musee, in the center of the block on the left side, was located at 55 West 23rd Street near Sixth Avenue. In business from 1884 to 1915, it was a popular entertainment center that featured a music hall, wax displays, an annual orchid show, vaudeville acts, and more. |
