This photograph and the accompanying label text were created as part of the Indelible Memories documentation project. The Staten Island Historical Society partnered with photographer Vinnie Amesse to record images and statements from more than fifty individuals profoundly affected by the events of September 11 and their aftermath. The exhibition, "Indelible Memories: September 11 Memorial Tattoos Photographed by Vinnie Amesse," was displayed at Historic Richmond Town in 2003. Five members of the Petti family have the same tattoo in memory of Lieutenant Philip Petti of the FDNY. Thomas says he never would have thought to get a tattoo until his uncle suggested it, and then it seemed like a natural idea for a tribute. |
