This is an individual item contained within archival collection MS236. This document is an invoice from Webley Edwards to the town of Southfield, Staten Island, for his services as Justice of the Peace. It is handwritten on a large sheet of off-white lined paper that is folded to form four pages. It includes charges for meetings with the town auditors; serving as Inspector at a town meeting; and registering names of voters as an Inspector of Elections. On the third page is a signed statement regarding submitting the bill to the town, sworn before Peter S. Wandel, Justice of the Peace. Biography and History |
Webley Edwards (1816-1870) was a tailor. He also served at different times as County Treasurer and Justice of the Peace. In 1869, he built the house that is now Historic Richmond Town's Edwards-Barton House. |
