Biography and History |
William Reardon held the office of Superintendent of the Poor in 1886, indicating that he won this election. His opponent, Thomas J. Butler, was nominated to run against him in 1885, as reported in an October 22, 1885 New York Times article describing the convention of the Republican Party of Richmond County, held in Tompkinsville on October 21: "Thomas J. Butler of Northfield, was then nominated by acclamation for Superintendent of the Poor." The Richmond County Sentinel, which printed this handbill, operated from 1876 to 1889. |
