This is an individual item contained within archival collection MS136. Printed business card for E.A. Hervey, M.D. The card is pale pink, with darker pink edges, printed borders, and an illustration of a bald eagle with banner "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Printed inscription: "E. A. HERVEY, M.D., / PHYSICIAN, / SURGEON, / And Dentist, / ROSSVILLE, STATEN ISLAND. / Office Hours, from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m." Handwritten on the reverse of the card are names of several members of the Conner family, some with dates; the last is in a different handwriting. The first two are partly illegible; the others are: "William Conner / Stephen Conner 1843 / Henry Conner / W.L. Conner. OCT. 3. 1877." In addition, there appears to be a light pencil sketch over the names, possibly a rough map. (Keywords: New York) |
Biography and History |
Dr. Edwin Addison Hervey (1824-1900) graduated from the University Medical College of New York City in 1859. He settled in Rossville, Staten Island, where he remained in practice into the 1890s. |
