Description |
Advertising brochure and map, showing transportation lines of Tompkins Bus Corp., Staten Island Rapid Transit, and trolley lines. The brochure is comprised of a single sheet of tan paper folded into four segments. On one side of the sheet are four vertical text panels with orange and red borders and black printed text. The title panel reads, "TRANSPORTATION / MAP / OF / STATEN ISLAND / SHOWING LINES / OF / TOMPKINS BUS CORP. / STATEN ISLAND RAPID TRANSIT / TROLLEY LINES / PREPARED FOR AND PUBLISHED BY / CORNELIUS G. KOLFF, INC. / STATEN ISLAND REAL ESTATE AGENTS / FOR 40 YEARS / CORN EXCHANGE BANK BUILDING / ST. GEORGE, STATEN ISLAND / PRINTED BY JOHN WILLIG PRESS, INC., STAPLETON." Other panels promote the Tompkins Bus Corporation and Cornelius G. Kolff, Inc. (a real estate, development, and insurance business). A handwritten inscription in pencil reads "Rossbach / 1185 Castleton Av." The reverse unfolds to form a map of Staten Island in vertical format, titled "MAP / OF / STATEN ISLAND / PREPARED FOR / CORNELIUS G. KOLFF INC. / REAL ESTATE / ST. GEORGE." The inscription indicates the map was drawn by R. G. Biggerstaff, Eltingville S.I., and includes a key to the markings for various transportation lines.
