Alice (Cornell) Townsend (1779-1851) was a maternal great-grandmother of photographer Alice Austen. This portrait, with a different frame, appears in several of Alice Austen's photographs of the parlor of Clear Comfort, the Austen family home in Rosebank, Staten Island. |
