Original glass plate negative. John C. Browne sits on a rock at the edge of a stream at Milzingah Falls in Fishkill, New York. In the background is a waterfall down a rocky cliff. There is an inscription on the face of the cliff alongside the waterfall: "MILZ / INGAH / FALLS." The original negative sleeve has the photographer's handwritten inscription: "Stanley / 35 / 401 / Milsingah [sic] Falls, to the rear / Mr Browne sitting in front / Dark, cloudy day / W.L. 2 1/2 secs / 60 ft / 10.15 a.m / Sat. August 20th / 1892 / Fishkill." |
