Ownership and History |
The setting for this photo is most likely the home of Mrs. Maria Bredt and her children, including Alice Austen's friend Julia Bredt. The Bredt family lived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the 1880s and early 1890s. Some of the men in the group have been identified through research as Percival Drayton, Emmot Davis Buel, Godwin Ordway, and William Ogden Wade, all of whom were students at nearby Lehigh University at that time, and George Rodney Booth, who graduated Lehigh in 1886 and lived in Bethlehem. |
