Object Name Cabinet

Description Renaissance Revival style dental cabinet; made of walnut, with a marble shelf. Upper section has two cabinets and many shallow drawers and is topped by acorn finials; base has three drawers and one cabinet. Brass fixtures. Feet are on casters. Made by the S.S. White Manufacturing Company. Dimensions are 67.5 inches high x 31 inches wide x 19 inches deep.
Ownership and History The S.S. White Manufacturing Company of Princes Bay, Staten Island, was established in 1881. It became a major manufacturer and distributor of a wide variety of dental equipment and implements, including dental chairs, drills, cuspidors, gold fillings, and denture bases. By the late 1890s, the company was the largest employer on Staten Island. The plant remained in operation until 1972.
