Metal fireman's badge from Oceanic Hook & Ladder Company No. 1. Brass-colored metal badge in Maltese cross shape. Circular central medallion has raised image of a ladder truck and the letters "N.S. / F.D." (for North Shore Fire Department); upper and lower portions of the cross are inscribed "OCEANIC / 1"; left portion of cross has raised hook and ladder image and right portion has a raised image of a hydrant. Reverse has hinge and clasp for a pin attachment (pin missing). Badge measures 2.125 inches high x 2.125 inches wide.

|Ownership and History||
Oceanic Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 of Travis, Staten Island was established in 1881. (At that time, the town was known as Linoleumville, home of the first linoleum factory in America.) Oceanic Hook & Ladder still occupies its historic fire station at 4010 Victory Boulevard. It is one of two remaining volunteer fire companies on Staten Island as of 2011.
