Description Girl's Holy Communion dress of white satin with scrolled beadwork at front neckline, hem, sleeve hem, and waist. Neckline is rounded, sleeves are short and puffed. The full, gathered skirt has a tulle underskirt and synthetic lining. Floral ribbon tie detail at waist in back with center back zipper. Fabric is 100% polyester. Maker's label: "J.J. / ANJORDEN / U.S.A." Additional label has manufacturing details, including style number 8488 and size 7.

Ownership and History This is part of a group of items associated with the First Holy Communion of Gianna Marie Galizia of Staten Island, presented to the Staten Island Historical Society by Gianna's grandmother. Gianna was born in 2001 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Staten Island. Her First Holy Communion took place at the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Child in Eltingville, Staten Island on May 9, 2009. A celebration was held that same day at the Excelsior Grand on Hylan Boulevard.

The dress and gloves were purchased at the store Small Wonders on New Dorp Lane. The dress cost $139.
