Ownership and History The Hadkins Bottling Company was founded in Perth Amboy, New Jersey in 1863 by John H. Hadkins and Charles Low. Shortly afterward, Hadkins purchased Low's interest in the firm and in 1867 moved the plant across the Arthur Kill to Tottenville, Staten Island. By the late-19th century, Hadkins was the largest bottling company on Staten Island and one of the foremost businesses of its kind in greater New York. The works continued under family ownership until operations ceased in the late 1940s.
