Description Shipping and storage drum. Cylindrical shape, made of rolled, welded and embossed steel. Painted black with red cover that is held on by a rolled, galvanized steel locking ring. Edge of cover is marked "OPEN 1-14 GREIF [GBC (in circle)] BROS. [KW (in circle)]"; bottom has embossed markings: "DOT 37A 110 GBC STC 26/8/83/12 10S"

Ownership and History This barrel was manufactured by the Greif Brothers Corporation's East Coast Division plant in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island. According to a company representative, the type of closure on this drum was known as the "Lok-Rim." The "DOT" code on the bottom is a Department of Transportation symbol indicating that it can be used to ship hazardous materials.
