Greeting card (holiday postcard). Color-printed and embossed illustration of a holly branch draped with a red tassel, and a circular inset illustration of a church in snow. Printed inscription: "Across the miles / that part us, this / little messenger shall bear / my hearty Christmas / Greeting". Fine print at bottom has number "863". Reverse side is addressed to "Miss Alice Austen, / Rosebank, / Staten Island, / N.Y." and has handwritten note, "From / Alma, / Betty & / Oswald." Reverse also has printed headings. Postmarked in Los Angeles, California, Dec. 20, 1913. Postage stamp value is one cent. Cancellation stamp reads, "WORLD'S / PANAMA-/PACIFIC / EXPOSITION / IN SAN FRANCISCO / 1915".
