Description Milk bottle, clear glass, cylindrical with tapering neck, Brighton Dairy, West Brighton, Staten Island; one quart size. Embossed lettering on front: "BD [intertwined] / BRIGHTON DAIRY / WEST BRIGHTON / STATEN ISLAND" Embossed lettering on back: "BD [intertwined] / ONE FULL QUART / WASH & RETURN ME". Embossed maker's mark on back near bottom: "MTC". Embossed mark on bottom: "37".

Ownership and History The embossed mark, "MTC," with the T in a larger size, is believed to be the mark of the Thatcher Manufacturing Company, a major U.S. manufacturer of glass milk bottles.
